Is there anything better than getting away and disconnecting from the daily routine? Yes! Let yourself be seduced by the surroundings and get to know the special places that each destination offers you.

The El Jou Nature hotel is located in the Catalan Pyrenees, a setting that undoubtedly offers a multitude of leisure and adventure proposals. Specifically, the Alt Berguedà area offers visitors unmissable spots, such as natural springs. It is always a pleasure to discover the nature that surrounds us, but if it is summer, it is an ideal plan of the coolest.

A natural source is source water such as rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, springs, which is often used to provide drinking water to public supplies. These water sources can be underground or in aeration zones. Be that as it may, what is certain is that they brighten the eyes and refresh the way for hikers who are lucky enough to find one on their way.

Did you know that there is an APP called Cercafonts that has more than 5,000 identified natural sources?

In 2018 it was created by the ACA (Catalan Water Agency) and the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia with the aim of improving knowledge through citizen science. The application allows you to provide information on a specific source that is currently unidentified and also expand information on those that are already classified.

What natural sources can we find near El Jou Nature?

The Font l'Adou

Place where the river Bastareny is born. They are located at more than 1,000 meters of altitude and are 6 km from the municipality of Bagà. It is a very accessible natural area that can be reached by a simple excursion. The options are varied: walk, bicycle, car... for all tastes!

How many km are you from El Jou Nature hotel? 20 km.

How to get?
  • Take the Sant Corneli road to the B-400 (4 km).
  • Follow B-400 and C-16 towards Passeig Gibellàs and take the exit towards Bagà from C-16.
  • Take the road that goes to Gisclareny from Bagà, for 2 km.
  • Before reaching the Sant Joan bridge, take the detour to the right.
  • A dirt forest track awaits here, along which cars and bicycles can pass, which must be followed for 4 km. It is a very pleasant path to enjoy the landscape and the vegetation, which includes Scots pine, hazel and holly trees, among others.
  • Turn left and continue until the end of the road.
  • The sound of water and a stone bridge indicate that we are already at the destination.
  • You will have to climb another 200 meters to reach the source of the Bastareny, along a path that runs parallel to the river. This path is somewhat more inaccessible and comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.

Fonts del Llobregat

One of the most popular excursions in Catalonia is to the source of the Llobregat river. It may be because of its easy accessibility or because of the prize that it has prepared at the end, but it is a quoted plan that does not go out of style. And it is that seeing the famous Fonts del Llobregat and enjoying the water coming out of the rocks and giving rise to the birth of the river is something unforgettable.
